CPI faculty members have secured DFG funding to investigate ‘Clonal Hematopoiesis: Pathomechanisms and Clinical Consequences in Heart and Blood.’ As individuals age, the emergence of mutant blood cell clones can have profound health implications, including an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease and abnormal blood cell proliferation, such as seen in leukemia. This research group is dedicated to uncovering the underlying biological processes driving these phenomena.
Comprising scientists from both basic research and clinical backgrounds, this collaborative effort seeks to unravel the intricacies of this process and its associations with various diseases. The ultimate goal is to harness these newfound insights for therapeutic advancements. Professor Dr. Michael Rieger serves as the spokesperson for this research group.
