Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the third leading cause of death worldwide and is caused by air pollution or tobacco smoke. The young scientist Marija Gredic’s work has provided new insights into the development and possible treatment of pulmonary hypertension in COPD, for which she was awarded the 10,000 euro of the German Society for Pneumology and Respiratory Medicine (DGP).
