DESCRIPTION:Conferences offer far more than scientific talks. They are opportunities to build meaningful professional relationships\, create new collaborations\, and increase your visibility within your field. In this interactive workshop\, participants will learn practical networking strategies for conferences: preparing and reaching out to people in advance\, navigating coffee breaks and conference dinners with confidence\, and effectively communicating the value of their work during informal conversations. We will also discuss how to follow up after the event to turn brief encounters into lasting professional connections. \nAn optional module on using social media as a professional networking tool can be included based on participants’ interests.

DESCRIPTION:How do we juggle work- life balance when “life” comes with such a huge mental load? When the \nfamily to-do list is three times as long as the work to-do list and you feel like you are always the one \nthat has to remember. How do we thrive at work whilst navigating the worry and guilt of managing a \nfamily at home? How do we learn to share the planning and management of our homes and not just \nthe delegation of a never-ending task list in our minds? It is possible. In this session\, we will: \n- Explore what mental load is and how it manifests in our daily lives. \n- Learn to recognise signs of burnout and tools we can employ to avoid it. \n- Learn to take meaningful breaks. \n- Learn to be more effective at work so you can enjoy your time at home. \n- Identify worry and self-doubt loops and how to stop them. \n- Explore mindfulness and self-compassion as tools to help you be present with our kids when we \nare at home and present with our works when we need to be working.

Also suitable for colleagues who only want a brief introduction. \nSession B — Career Development with AI Assistants  \nSelf-Assessment and Goal Clarification \nAI-supported self-assessment of strengths\, working style\, and career drivers\, mapped against realistic career paths in and beyond academia. Participants leave with a clear\, individually validated set of goals rather than a generic checklist. \nProfessional Positioning \nClarifying and communicating one's own professional positioning — CV\, cover letters\, applications\, and networking presence (e.g. LinkedIn). Hands-on\, in-depth work with participants' own materials\, with significantly more time for individual feedback and revision than the combined variant allows. \nSynthesis\, Action Plan and Decision Framework \nParticipants build a personal\, AI-supported decision framework for evaluating opportunities (offers\, role changes\, further qualification) and translate it into a concrete action plan with follow-up steps and milestones — the added depth that justifies a dedicated half day. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

And for scientists\, it may be the most important one outside the lab. \nWhether you are presenting your research to funders\, collaborating across teams\, engaging policymakers\, or stepping in front of a general audience for the first time\, how you communicate is what makes your work land\, or not. \nMost scientists are exceptionally good at presenting facts. What is harder\, and what this programme addresses directly\, is making those facts matter: helping your listener understand quickly and easily what you are saying\, why it is relevant\, why it is urgent\, and what they should do with it. Without that\, even the strongest research struggles to move people. \nLeft unpractised\, the habits that hold you back become harder to shift.
