SUMMARY:Perfectionism and Imposter Syndrome | Online Talk
DESCRIPTION:We argue that our perfectionism drives us to great heights\, to excel\, and to maintain our edge. We rarely stop to see the costs it carries. Imposter syndrome distorts the way we see ourselves\, our performance\, and our capabilities. Both reflect our doubts and fears – fear of being judged\, fear of failing\, fear of not being good enough\, fear of not belonging. They’re the product of distorted thinking patterns. Thinking patterns that we can change. \n  \nWe explore: \n-        The true costs of these doubts and fears\, and the extent to which they are impacting on your productivity\, mental clarity\, and your joy for what you do. \n-        Simple ways to notice when your perfectionism or imposter syndrome is tripping you up. \n-        Simple ways to reshape your inner critic to be more objective and more compassionate\, so that you can thrive thanks to the voice in your head rather than in spite of it.

SUMMARY:Think statistics! with R | Online Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The main aim of this course is to teach how to approach data analysis problems with classical statistics. We focus on the intuition behind statistical methodologies rather than on "how to run a t-test with R"\n(which we will also learn\, by the way). \n  \nTopics: \n- Sampling theory: obtaining information about a population via sampling. Sample characteristics (location\, dispersion\, skewness)\, estimation of the mean\, standard error of the mean. \n- Probability theory: \n-- Discrete distributions: Discrete Uniform\, Bernoulli\, Binomial\, Poisson\, Negative Binomial. \n-- Continuous distributions: From the Discrete to the Continuous Uniform. Exponential and Gamma as waiting time distributions in Poisson processes. \n-- Central limit theorem: The Normal distribution\, chi-square distribution. Distribution of the sample mean. Standard error of the mean. \n- Hypothesis testing. Confidence interval of the sample mean\, "Student"'s t-distribution. One-group and two-group t-tests. \n- Type I and Type II errors. P-value distributions (why the magnitude of the p-value doesn't matter). Power calculations for the t-test. \n- "Cookbook of tests": \n-- Distribution tests: Shapiro-Wilk\, Kolmogorov-Smirnov. \n-- Tests of location: Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test. Parametric and non-parametric tests. \n-- Tests of disperson: F-test. \n-- Counting statistics: chi-square test for contingency tables and goodness-of-fit. Fisher's exact test. \n-- Correlations: Pearson\, Kendall's tau\, Spearman's rank correlation test. \n  \nOut of scope: \nWe are **not** going to analyse participants' data\, with one exception: \nthey can bring a small dataset of their own with two groups and can try out a t-test and a power calculation on it. Most exercises use synthetic data for pedagogical purposes. \n  \nPre-requisites: \n- Basic familiarity with the R programming language is **required**. \n- Familiarity with Jupyter notebooks and the Jupyter system (https://jupyter.org) is advantageous\, but not required (the basics will be explained in advance). \n  \nHands-on exercises: \nThese are short pieces of R code that the participants run during the lecture. Most of them are simulations that illustrate sampling errors\, p-value variability etc. The exercises run on a server provided by the instructor. \n  \n"Homework" exercises: \nThese are simple tasks that the participants can complete after the lectures on their own and the system tells them whether the solutions were correct. The exercises run on yet another server provided by the instructor. \n  \nTime: 2 x 4 hours\, with 2 short breaks. \n  \nHandouts: \nProvided after the course. The participants get PDF copies of the lecture slides (not to be distributed) and some other "goodies" (scripts etc.)

SUMMARY:Academia & Parenting – Managing the Mental Load | Online Talk
DESCRIPTION:How do we juggle work-life balance when “life” comes with such a huge mental load? When the family to-do list is three times as long as the work to-do list and you feel like you are always the one that has to remember. How do we thrive at work whilst navigating the worry and guilt of managing a family at home? How do we learn to share the planning and management of our homes and not just the delegation of a never-ending task list in our minds? It is possible. In this session\, we will: \n- Explore what mental load is and how it manifests in our daily lives. \n- Learn to recognise signs of burnout and tools we can employ to avoid it. \n- Learn to take meaningful breaks. \n- Learn to be more effective at work so you can enjoy your time at home. \n- Identify worry and self-doubt loops and how to stop them. \n- Explore mindfulness and self-compassion as tools to help you be present with our kids when we are at home and present with our works when we need to be working.

Hands-on\, in-depth work with participants' own materials\, with significantly more time for individual feedback and revision than the combined variant allows. \nSynthesis\, Action Plan and Decision Framework \nParticipants build a personal\, AI-supported decision framework for evaluating opportunities (offers\, role changes\, further qualification) and translate it into a concrete action plan with follow-up steps and milestones — the added depth that justifies a dedicated half day. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Be a Better Speaker | Online Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Communicate. Connect. Convince. \nThe world belongs to those who can share their ideas! \nPublic speaking is not a talent. It is a skill. And for scientists\, it may be the most important one outside the lab. \nWhether you are presenting your research to funders\, collaborating across teams\, engaging policymakers\, or stepping in front of a general audience for the first time\, how you communicate is what makes your work land\, or not. \nMost scientists are exceptionally good at presenting facts. What is harder\, and what this programme addresses directly\, is making those facts matter: helping your listener understand quickly and easily what you are saying\, why it is relevant\, why it is urgent\, and what they should do with it. Without that\, even the strongest research struggles to move people. \nLeft unpractised\, the habits that hold you back become harder to shift. This program gives CPI Academy members a hands-on\, practical space to become significantly more aware of what they already do well\, and more deliberate about what they do next. \nThe program is scheduled for the following dates: 16.11.2026\, 18.11.2026\, 20.11.2026\, each day from 9:00 to 10:30. \nFind more about the lecturer (https://www.moving-speaker.com/) and interesting information about the program HERE. \n  \n
